Doctrine of God

God is the creator of everything in the cosmos.  In creating the cosmos, God demonstrated that He is all-powerful (Gen 1:1). He is the one and only true God (Deut 6:4).  He is sovereign over all His creation (Ps 103:19). He does all things in His sovereignty according to the counsel of His own desire and purpose (Eph 1:11; Rev 4:11). It is to Him that all worship, praise, love and glory are due (1 Cor 10:31; Heb 1:3). God the Father cannot sin, will not sin and in Him there is no sin.  Under no circumstances and in no way has God, or will God, indulge, tempt or authorize sin (James 1:13; 1 John 3:5). He is a spiritual being (John 4:24).  God is eternal, having no beginning or end and He is unchangeable (Job 36:26; Ps 102: 25-27; Isa 46:9-11). God is omnipresent, everywhere present at the same time (Ps 139:7-10).  God knows all things. He is omniscient (Ps 139:17-18; Job 36:4; 37:16). He is all-wise, meaning that He is omnisapient (Eph 3:10).  God is independent of all creation (Acts 17: 24-25). God is a necessity to life that is all life depends on Him (Matt 6: 25-33).  He extends to man unmerited, unrecompensable and unwanted favor called grace (Eph 2:8; Rom 5:20-21; Gen 6:8).  God is faithful in His covenant promises (Ps 23:6; Luke 1:54; Neh 9:32).

God is one. He exists in three persons, the trinity (Eph 4:4-7).  The first person of the trinity is God the Father (John 3:16; 4:24; 10:29-33).  The Father is one in essence with God the Son (Phil 2:4-6) and God the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4).  They are all three co-equal in glory and divinity (Phil 2:4-6).  The Father is set apart from all creation, this is to say that God is holy (Lev 11:44; 1 Pet 1:16). He is loving (John 3:16, 1 John 4: 8), just (Gen 18:25; Lev 19:35-36) and righteous (Exod 9:27).  It is imperative for the believer’s sanctification to learn the truth of the trinity (Phil 3:7-14).  God has chosen in his wisdom to make himself known to man through divine revelation. Knowing God is the preeminent endeavor of believers guided by the Holy Spirit (Phil 3:7-14; Eph 1:17; 2 Pet 1:3-10).
